Members of the Institute of Philosophy (CSIC) and the Neural Rehabilitation Group (Cajal Institute – CSIC) participated in a Round Table on Neurotechnology – Expectations, Risks and Opportunities that was held at San Telmo Museum (San Sebastian – Spain).

The EXTEND Consortium was represented at the 41st Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC). The PhD Student Alejandro Pascual Valdunciel (Neural Rehabilitation Group – CSIC) presented preliminary results demonstrating the ability of electrical stimulation below motor threshold to inhibit voluntary muscular activity on upper limb.

Part of the EXTEND project consortium organizes the Summer School on NeuroRehabilitation 2019 that will be held in Baiona, Vigo (Spain) in September 15 – 20.

Dissemination of the EXTEND Project in the ERF2019, Bucharest (March 20-22)

The Consortium had a very fruitful and productive Meeting at Össur premises (Reykjavik – Iceland). We reviewed the work done in 2018 and planned the next steps for 2019. At the end of the Meeting, we were given a tour around Össur facilities.

Preliminary outcomes of the work done in EXTEND Project was presented at the 4th International Conference on NeuroRehabilitation (ICNR2018) that took place in Pisa (Italy) from 16 to 20 October 2018.

CSIC was present at Summer School on Neurorehabilitation (SSNR2018) in Baiona, Spain, and presented their contributions:

• Pascual-Valdunciel A, Barroso FO, Pons JL. “Motor inhibition elicited by electrical stimulation of afferent pathways and its application in tremor suppression”.
• Rodrigues C, Ortiz A, Moreno JC, Pons JL. “Proposal of a Stackable Functional Electrical Stimulation System Device”.

The periodic review with the EC will be held on October 9 in Luxembourg.

The WP2 meeting will be held on July, 13 at the Imperial College. We are looking forward to meeting the WP2 partners in London.
